Numerology - Soul Urge Number

Your Soul Urge Number represents what your heart desires the most. Some numerologists refer to it as the Heart's Desire number. That number is what motivates your ideals, your decisions, and your dreams.

Your Soul Urge Number is derived from the vowels in your birth name, as it appears on your birth certificate at the time of your birth date. (Similar to your Personality Number, where the consonants were the focus)
It is one of the Core numbers in Numerology (See also your Life Path Number, Birthday Number, Expression (also called Destiny) Number, and your Personality Number.

Its calculation is similar to all the other Core Number. Here, each vowel has a value (See chart below). Your Soul Urge Number is essentially a sum of these numbers, reducing all double digit number to a single digit (e.g. 24 = 2 + 4 = 6).

Remember, the letter Y can be considered a vowel or a consonant, depending on the adjacent letters:

  • Y is a vowel when Y serves as a vowel and sounds like a vowel, or when Y is the only vowel in the syllable (Mary, Kathryn)
  • Y is a consonant when Y follows another vowel, and it doesn't provide for a separate vowel sound (Hayley, Britney)

Let's walk you through a couple examples:

Example #1:

If your name is William John Warner:

First name:
= I + I + A
= 9 + 9 + 1
= 19 = 1		 Middle name
= O
= 6
= 6		 Last name
= A + E
= 1 + 5
= 6

= 1 + 6 + 6 = 13 <=> 4.
William John Warner's Soul Urge Number is 4.

Example #2:

If your name is Oprah Gail Winfrey

First name:
= O + A
= 6 + 1
= 7		 Middle name
= A + I
= 1 + 9
= 10 = 1		 Last name:
= I + E
= 9 + 5
= 14 = 5

= 7 + 1 + 5 = 13 <=> 4.
Oprah Gail Winfrey's Personality Number is 4.
